A key figure in the history of the WNBA and New York Liberty, Kym’s WNBA career began as she and Lisa Leslie tipped off the league’s inaugural game, June 21, 1997. Hampton scored the first basket in New York Liberty history, started every game during the franchise’s first three seasons, and was the first player in franchise history to earn 500 rebounds. Kym’s career has not been limited to the basketball court. As an accomplished vocalists, she has performed at the CMA’s, Madison Square Garden, Birdland, The Blue Note, Ashford & Simpson’s Sugar Bar and live on ESPN, singing the National Anthem for the  Women’s NCAA Basketball Championship Game. Ms. Hampton is also a plus-sized model having signed with Wilhelmina Models and co-created the Stand Tall Line, with Ashley Stewart. Kym has been featured in numerous print ads and as a theater major -  has even graced the Film and Television industry. She was featured in a National CoverGirl TV campaign for the Queen Collection makeup line and played a role in Spike Lee’s movie “She Hate Me” and TV shows like the Revolution, Mom’s Got Game, and the Cosby Show.

Ms. Hampton remains close to the game serving as a League and New York Liberty ambassador. She is a  Motivational Speaker with a soft spot for girls and student athletes. While her influence and community involvement are unmeasured, Ms. Hampton is committed to making a difference in the lives of people by helping them understand the power of choice.
